Welcome To Our Forums
HelloHi guys just wanted to jump on here and say hi to all of you. I have wanted to build a forge since I was in highschool ag making hay hooks. I miss it and always wanted to get me a nice forge then I found you guys and the forges that you make and I am going to build me a couple in my back yard and get back to work at something I really enjoyed. The only big obstacle would be for me to find an anvil or an anvil substitute everything else is no problem. |

Re: Hello u may want to find a piece of rr track to start with if u have access to a rr,rail yard or a junkyard u might be able to find a piece af rr track lying around around these places, but i suggest u get permission from the rail yard though.it might be a cheaper solution untill u get a good anvil.

Re: HelloHunting at Fleamarkets is always an idea too. i picked up an old anvil that someone made out of a section of RR track for $15. and there's always people selling old forge style hammers and tongs there. i have seen real anvils but hadn't had the 2 hundred bucks to shell out. i also have a heavy duty foot and a half section of I-beam i plan on using, that could be a scrapyard find. |

Re: HelloWelcome to the forum Devon. I live in Devon UK. My first anvil was a steal from my local scrap yard for £20 about $30. IT's what you guys call an Old colonial anvil, in the UK it's called an Armourers anvil |
